Some Brides Want Cake; Others Order Up Elvis Costello!

We had the pleasure of designing and producing a magical wedding weekend in Park City, Utah for an incredible couple.  A secret that only the bride and JOWY Productions knew about for over a year, we surprised the groom (and all of the guests) by "serving up" Elvis Costello. The groom has been to over 100 of EC's shows and the surprise was unbelievable and special. With the help of Empire Entertainment, JP delivered Elvis Costello and he did NOT disappoint! The groom's reaction was PRICELESS!

Wedding Wednesdays: Best Proposal Ever? You Tell Us!

Our job starts with planning a great wedding.  But a great wedding cannot be planned without there first being a proposal.  The below video may just be the best proposal we have ever seen.  The first time we saw it we were laughing and tearing up at the same time.

With this as the proposal, we can only imagine what the wedding will be like.

So grab some tissues and press play!

Let us know what you thought in the comments below! And if you liked this video, share it with your friends - we need more proposals like this in our lives!

Wedding Wednesday: Looking Good On The Dance Floor

Over this past Labor Day weekend, we created a gorgeous wedding that was one and a half years in the making and beyond memorable for all of those invited and involved.

When we first started the planning process, our client came to us with a dance floor image that she loved.  She wanted to create something similar for her wedding and use it as the focal point for the reception.  We worked with our graphic designer to come up with a similar motif for the floor and presented the bride with several design options and played with the coloration—the positive and negative space. After a few rounds of revisions, she selected a beautiful floral design with an grey and white coloration. The art deco shape and the dramatic contrasts in color made the floor graphic timeless.

Once the floral pattern was confirmed, we had the design laser cut (each flower petal was cut individually and in two pieces) out of a material called GAMfloor.  GAMfloor is a vinyl material that bonds to surfaces using an adhesive backing. It comes in a variety of colors and finishes.  We chose a glossy grey/pewter dance floor which was painted to the bride's "perfect" color.

When it was time for the installation, we called on Lewis Barker's from Barker Decor for their expertise.  We worked closely with his team to see it laid out piece by piece.  For us, overseeing the install was imperative, as we and Lewis Barker's team had never created anything like it before. Therefore, we wanted to make sure the design was centered on the surface, that the petals were evenly distributed and the same width and that everything was perfectly placed before adhering the design to the surface.  The entire process took about 8 hours inclusive of delivery, assembling the dance floor and adhering the GAM precisely.

Creating this unique, one-of-a-kind, dance floor gave the bride what she wanted, a focal point for the reception that was completely personalized, unique and stunning.  We are super proud and happy with the outcome!

Let us know your thoughts on this one-of-a-kind dance floor in the comments below.

Wedding Wednesdays: A Lively Affair

Well, by now you probably know (or maybe not) that two of the hottest stars in Hollywood got hitched this past weekend. Ryan Reynolds married Blake Lively in a very low key ceremony on a South Carolina Plantation (you've got to love their version of low key).

We hear the event details will be published in the December issue of Martha Stewart Weddings and cannot wait to see them!

And though, of course, we can't wait to hear ALL the scoop about this glorious event; right now, what we really want to know, is what Blake's wedding dress looked like!  There hasn't been a single photograph of it published anywhere!

Marchesa made the one-of-a-kind couture bridal gown and, according to a release by the fashion house, it had a hand-draped silk tulle bodice adorned with crystal and rose gold embroidery.  Sounds gorgeous and right on trend. We would expect nothing less from the uber-stylish fashionista.

Yet, until we are allowed a glimpse of the elusive dress, please forgive us while we hope she channeled a little Serena van der Woodsen for her big day.

Wedding Wednesday: COME SEPTEMBER

Labor Day is just behind us and September is now upon us! Where did this summer go?  We are still experiencing excessive heat here in LA but our minds are ready to march forward into Fall. We have some great events planned for the Fall season along with some family travel and other adventures.  We can't wait to share them with you.  In the meantime, here are several things inspiring us as we think about Fall 2012.

{a farewell summer picnic }

{looking forward to fall foliage and cooler temps}

{bohemian, fall inspired place setting}

{mismatched antique chairs at a wedding ceremony}

{fun autumn send off - throwing leaves instead of rice}

{the fall trends of burgundy and leopard suit us just fine}
