JOWY Productions Presents Wedding Wednesday: Fashion Forward

Fall is coming in like a freight train and the fashion that comes with it is coming on just as strong. Many of us have already received our September Vogue issue and are pouring over the trends thinking: "should I wear that?" or "I can't wait to wear that!"  We, here at JP, have decided to use the rest of August to introduce you to the trends running rampant through the Fall 2013 bridal gown collections.  To kick of this series, we thought we would get everyone in the mood by showing you Monique Lhuillier's Fall fashion show.  So sit back, hit play and get ready to ooh and ahh.

And not to spoil the surprise but our favorite dress was this little number right here:

JOWY Productions Presents Wedding Wednesday: Falling Into Fall...Slowly

Happy August! August?! We have been so busy with our July events that the first of August surprised us when it hit.  Los Angeles hasn't exactly had a warm Summer so we just aren't quite ready for Fall.  We plan to savor EVERY last bit of summer we can get our hands on while we begin to think about Fall 2013. Here is what is inspiring us this month:

{mimosa bar for the last few outdoor brunches}

{tulle, tulle and more tulle}

{end of summer salad - recipe here}

{fall flowers- JCrew liberty minaudiere}

{first fall dinner party - emerald and stripes}

What will you be doing with your last few weeks of summer? Let us know in the comments below.

JOWY Productions Presents Wedding Wednesday: "The Best Things in Life are Free"

As the saying goes, "the best things in life are free" which also can apply to weddings.  Here are a few ways to add intimate moments to your wedding without adding a penny to your budget

1. Honor your ancestors:  Carry a family locket, have the groom wear the same pocket square his Dad wore on his parents’ wedding day, dedicate a song to a grandparent or a loved one that is no longer with you.

2. Say Thank You: Make sure as the bride and groom thank their loved ones for coming.  Be specific and let everyone know why it's special that they are there and where everyone traveled from, near and far to be there with them on their special day.

3. Read a passage or poem from your parents’ or grandparents’ wedding

4. Thank you Notes: Create a thank you note for your guests to pick up as they leave the event to go home.

5. Sew the hankie your grandmother used on her wedding day into the lining of your dress.

6. Write love letters to each other on the bottom of your shoes.

There are, of course, many ways to make your wedding special without adding to your budget.  Our ideas are just to get you started.  We would love to hear the creative ways all of you have created free and easy elements to add the “special touch” to your wedding day.  Please leave us a comment in the space below.

JOWY Productions Presents Wedding Wednesday: "The Bear" & "The Fish"

We spent this past weekend in Los Angeles celebrating the wedding of The Bear and The Fish.  Don't worry, we were stumped at first too but keep reading!

Initially in the planning stages, it became apparent that we had a very creative and artistic bride on our hands. So, needless to say we were thrilled when she asked to hand paint the chair back signs for her and her soon-to-be husband.  In traditional fashion, she labeled the signs “Mr.” and “Mrs.” but much to our delight on the sign for “Mr.” was painted with the profile of a bear and on the sign for “Mrs.” the profile of a fish.  “The Bear” and “The Fish”--the bride and groom's nicknames for each other! It was the perfect personal touch and a design element that was carried through from the save the date to the welcome note and a thread that tied the wedding together.

This goes to show that while DIY projects do give your day that unique and memorable touch, you don't need to overdo it on the projects.  Instead, do what our bride did and choose a key element that highlights who you are as a couple and what is meaningful to you.  If you are not super crafty, you can find a craftsman to help you create personalized pieces for your wedding day.
