JOWY Productions invites you to Wedding Wednesdays: Champagne Coupes

Once in awhile there is a wedding trend that you hope will stick around for awhile.  And for us, that trend is champagne coupes.

Starting with Marie Antoinette in the 1600's until the 1960's, the coupe was the preferred glass from which to sip Champagne.  As a matter of fact, this shallow, saucer shaped glass had as much screen time as Humphrey Bogart did in the 1942 movie Casablanca.  The coupe was synonymous with elegance, money and class.  Its popularity began to wane in the early 70's and was replaced with the flute style glass which is mostly what we see used today.

Over the past few years, we have seen the coupe come back in style at weddings and parties and we could not be happier.  It looks prettier on a table, it is easier to tray pass around a party (we think of these things, we are party planners after all) and it holds a little over 8 ounces of Champagne vs. a flute's mere 6 ounces.  Who doesn't love more Champagne!

Now experts will tell you that a coupe allows the bubbles to dissipate too quickly but we take that to mean we will just need to sip ours a little faster!

We would love to hear your opinion?  Coupe or flute? Let us know in the comments below.

The wedding is such a pure event where two souls meet. I love such events as I am preparing to attend the wedding of my very close friend and I am looking forward to it impatiently. Moreover, attending a wedding ceremony is fun.
