Family members, check. Turkey ordered, check. Menu planned, check. Table décor…next! With Thanksgiving tomorrow, it might seem impossible to put together a warm, inventive holiday tablescape for your home. Here are a few of our easy, yet beautiful ideas, for decorating your Thanksgiving table that you can create quickly!
MODERN TABLE:
*Use clear glass hurricanes and dress them with leaves or elements of nature. Keep china simple and napkins and tablecloths in light autumn colors or white/ivory so your fall elements pop!
TRADITIONAL TABLE
*Use the jewel tones associated with this time of year to add depth and warmth to your table. Display inexpensive berries and leave (which can be found outdoors or at craft stores) in family heirlooms such as sugar bowls, water pitchers, or small vases. Use rich, dark napkins and white candles to complete the look.
KID’S TABLE
*Create a fun kid’s table using a smaller table and covering it with craft paper (found at any craft store). Put tins of crayons on the table for doodling. Add whatever whimsical elements you want (pictured: yarn balls, swizzle sticks with paper flags) to create a colorful and entertaining place for kids to celebrate and be entertained.
PEAR TABLE CARDS
*It’s nice to have designated areas for your guests to sit. Create these simple and edible place cards. Instructions: Use one medium sized pair, cut a 2”x3” piece of construction paper and write guests name in gold hued pen. Use balled gold pin or tack (found at any craft store) to attach card to the pear.
NATURAL CENTERPIECE
*Use seasonal items found at your local grocery store such as gourds, pumpkins, squashes and chestnuts (even oranges or tangerines will work) and place them in interesting bowls down the center of your table. This takes less then 10 minutes and creates a lovely cornucopia style feeling to your feast.
GIVING THANKS
Silverbox has designed a fun and creative way to share your thanks with your guests. Their Thanksgiving printable strips have a place on the back where guests can write what they are thankful for.
You can print them on kraft paper to make a paper chain (a fun activity to do with kids) or use them as napkin rings at each place setting. Click below for template and instructions:
